We can fix it.

Sweep Away Negative Energy

The past couple of evenings, I have been thinking about writing this post, and then last night, the Devils Warden stopped over, and upon his exit, my broom was lying across my doorway, on a diagonal. Of course, he casually walked around it, I asked him to come back and kindly pick it up, and he happily complied with my wish. A witch will never, ever, ever step over a broom that lays in the threshold of her house, she just cannot, no way, no how, it's not happening. And no, we don't ever howl at the moon, but yaya, its time for this post.

The broom, or sometimes called the besom, have you ever seen it parked outside your neighbor's house? Perhaps she is leaving a clue, not just telling you, whether she is home, but dropping the hint to others witches in the neighborhood, she is in resident. Yaya, believe it, we are living in your happy little neighborhood, hello! We also keep it by the door to keep all that bad energy from coming into the house, it keeps bad spirits out, while infusing wonderful vitality, life, vigor, a bit of strength for the mind and body, and of course magic, that only a broom can be responsible for. Some witches disguise their wands as brooms to avoid suspicion, some of us are still so vain, what can I say, then we get over it, nobody cares, right? Now, if there is some negative energy, yaya, dearie, I am talking about stress, capital "S" or drama, whatever is yanking those panties, that has built up in your head, house, even outside, or anywhere, get that broom, and start sweeping. Witch or not, you can do this, it is a great tool to sweep away negative energy, don't be afraid of the word 'tool,' no one is getting hurt here. Start with walking clockwise broom in hand. Make a circle, and sweep a few inches off the ground. You can use some scented candles or incense to spice it up, unless of course you are in a smoke free environment. Your circle should be at least ten feet in diameter, pace yourself, and try not to grumble; I know, we all do it.

The truth is a witches broom may be just a broom, but can be quite powerful to a witch. A broom can fly, it can hold the weight of a person, take them anywhere they want to go, levitate, and do magic. And of course, the broom will be your sixth sense. Throwing an old broom can reverse the wind or waves. Try that next hurricane, or if your ever in your own 'perfect storm.' If you don't have a broom, a besoms, was made out of a bunch of twigs, you can pretty much make one yourself, the real deal, cool, as Devin would say. Only a witch knows how useful, smart and wise her broom is to her.

Could He Be A Warlock?

With temps rising, it seems natural to head to the beaches, however, this type of casual entertainment and relaxation may be passe for some, who may prefer a day at the air conditioned mall with girl friends, or lunch at the posh spot, but for one small group of ladies and their daughters, there is no place else they would rather be.

What seems like recently, but realizing the generations passed, a very good looking man delighted the lives of the girls and I, and still is, innocently. I remember, young and old, gasping over him, he could have been a model, or an actor, yaya, that dashing, dearie. Obviously, quite handsome, and quite taken, and yaya, he liked it that way, but we still oohed and ahhed anyway; and it never went to his head. A warlock, is usually so high maintenance, and they have a knack of keeping women under their spell. Not the case here, would other men be jealous? Hard to get an honest answer. He had created his own magic, no wands, potions, or pixie dust. Age has been very kind to him, still handsome. Eyes so blue, you know he is honest and true, as is his heart. But are his eyes really blue, or was it, someone looking through? Today he has daughters, daughter-in-laws, and grand daughters, he is at the beach with all of them, the girls, his girls, loving life in a way, about giving, caring, enjoying every day. Now hold it right there, what is important? Yaya, I know, the simple pleasures, the best things in life really are free, but right here in from of my eyes, another example…summer gaiety, three generations, male and female, no boundaries, no sexism. It's not about the beginning of his life, who he was, the monetary wealth he has accumulated, no, nada, but, he is modestly living and building every day. It is about how much love you build in the end. Forget the cars, the expensive suits, and Manhattan dinners, take away the bank account and what do you have? This is living, this is what makes a man. Is he a warlock? You decide…does it matter?

Ready To Be A Witch?

So you have been reading this blog a while now, I hope, and you're thinking, may be you could, well may be, sort of, kind of, fit in here, am I right? Relax, it doesn't take much, and like I said before, don't get all 'spooked out' over the word "witch." It does have its perks, immortality, what can I say, is priceless, Jemini, should be sweeping in six digits from VISA. And there is nothing like the confidence you get from taking control of a situation, also, priceless. Then there are the simple pleasures in life, many mortals may miss; we need no rose colored glasses, in plain sight, we open our hearts, appreciate, love, endure, and desire for more, thus making us very unique indeed; and not necessarily for the materialistic things in life. Yaya, beauty is very much in the eyes of the beholder, and it does not stop there, the other senses are quite powerful. Stop and smell the fragrance and use that nose, feel the touch of a hand, or the love of an embrace, the taste of your mom's best batch of oatmeal cookies, nothing quite like the feeling of a little wish being granted.

Yaya, those simple pleasures, when I go out to my garden, I usually find a bullfrog sitting there waiting for me, sometimes he even follows me around the garden as I work or water. Fiona had butterflies hatch in her house, and she saved the exoskeletons for a brew and/or potion, lots or vitamins and minerals, good stuff. Larabee is the great juggler, she has got so much stuff going on at one time, she leaves Oprah standing at the parking meter. There are days, I feel like I am dragging my boots on the floor, three feet behind me, I'm so out of it, and then Jemini will call, and that's it, I'm back on track. And Angelica, just love to hear the news and the what, where, when and hows, and the up to date, lastest fashion buzz, as well as spell, potion and paraphernalia; only she could know.

No matter what you do, do your best, take nothing for granted, appreciate every day, live and love every smile you make, every heart you touch, every kiss you give, every hug you get; never stop laughing, believing, living and loving. My sisters and Abagail, are incredible women, witch make my life wonderful, most days; quick broom rides can lift anyones spirits. Our children keep us riding the clouds, or waves this time of year, we have to hold on when we can, laugh and love with our hearts, and let go in time; but love every second, even through the turbulence.

We, witches take little for granted, coincidences we never, ever fly over. If you really want to be a full fledged witch, you can bury a mirror in your backyard, but make sure it is on an uneven hour. The old book says, to bury it at a crossroad, but long gone at the dirt roads where we can safely dig a hole, twice, without taking our lives in our hands. Burying the mirror in your backyard on a path you often take, will suffice. On the third day, dig it up, have a dog or cat, look in the mirror first, then cover the mirror with a dark cloth. Next, have the mirror reflected by the full moon. Keep the mirror under a black cloth when not in use, and never, ever, ever, ever expose it to the sunlight. The mirror will answer a witch's questions, with reflective depths about the future, urgent questions, and faraway places, even the next town over, pretty cool, huh?. Now I hope you are not going to use this to spy on me. Well, have fun, see you at the next sisterhood meeting.

What do you think? Should I kiss that bull frog?
